Jaguars

I can't help it, I love Jaguars. It is some kind of strange addiction I have to the company and the cars they produce. Even though they are somewhat of a nomad having been a British company, U.S. owned company and now an Indian company, I have a special place in my heart for Jaguars. My great Uncle always drove the cars, he had several Jaguars. When I was a kid, success for me became synonymous with Jaguars. I loved the shape, the sleekness of the different sports cars and the way I felt when I rode in one was like I was a king.

Jaguars are funny, overall they really are not very impressive cars. Take for example the late 1980's XJS V12 convertible. This was a great looking "touring car". What does that mean to be a "touring car". This was my Great Uncle's favorite car, he drove it to the golf course every day. It had a 8 liter V12 in it that produced an embarassing 222 horsepower. The handling felt like someone had replaced the shocks with springs out of their clicker pens. Yet, every time I see one of these cars on the road I still get whiplash turning to see the damn thing.

Why do they carry a mystique like this...am I the only one? You can buy Jaguars used for pennies on the dollar for what they cost new. I find myself in arguments with friend defending the honor and integrity of my beloved Jaguars even though statistically even with the new models they rarely match up.

My dream is to one day own a Jaguar that I can drive when I choose so that I don't get stuck on my way to work when the thing breaks down....what's wrong with me?
